Kevin Richardson, M.D.

Dr-RichardsonDoctor Richardson received his medical degree in 1998 from LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans. In 2002, he completed his residency training in OBGYN at Charity Hospital in New Orleans. During residency, Dr. Richardson was nominated 1999 Intern of the Year, awarded 2002 first prize for research in molecular dynamics of preeclampsia, and won the award for Best Grand Rounds Lecture for his presentation on breast cancer genetics.

Dr. Richardson graduated from Emory University in 1993, where he simultaneously earned undergraduate degrees in Biology and Art History. While at Emory, he was a Studstill Scholar, received the George Gibbons Award and was awarded the 1992 Georgia Power Prize for research in marine biology. Throughout his undergraduate training, Dr. Richardson conducted research in molecular genetics at The Centers for Disease Control & Prevention.

He is one of the founding physicians of the St. Andrew's Mission Free Medical Clinic, where he has volunteered since 2005.

In 2012, Dr. Richardson was named Medical Director of Quality Improvement at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center.

Dr. Richardson is board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology and is an active member in The American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists. He also is board certified in Health Care Quality and Management (HCQM) from the American Board of Quality Assurance and Utilization Review Physicians (ABQAURP).

Dr. Richardson is married to The Reverend Chris Richardson, a minister in The United Methodist Church. They have three children.

When not delivering babies, performing robotic surgery, or working on hospital quality improvement projects, Dr. Richardson enjoys traveling with his family, classical music, and distance running. He has completed three marathons...and looks forward to running a fourth in the near future.
